Lexi Wu artist statement

We are always seeking truth. The connection we have in our minds is often at odds with what some call “the human condition.”  I explore multimedia concepts of the evolution of the mind. As someone who lives with mental illnesses, my exploration of material and how mental health affects us as a whole, allows my work to offer up a resonating view that is surreal, experimentalist, and purposely impressionistic.

I ground the human body with sensorial properties and the space to enlighten the mind.

I’m a process-oriented artist. I attract the seeker in all of us to question our reality and examine ourselves on a molecular level towards a higher consciousness, all through the painted mind where I am in control.

BLOOD AND BONES

Our skin is our protector for our insides. I want to communicate what our bodies are in their most raw forms and inform where our most vital parts are using color, texture, light, and visual cropping to highlight our bones and blood. Using my own X-rays and blood on a molecular level created a sense of control and mindfulness of who I am and I hope these paintings can intrigue you on what is underneath your skin.
